Alkotmány Agro Plc.
AGRICULTURE
Alkotmány Agro Plc. was established in 2000 through the partial transformation of Alkotmány agricultural collective farm and in 2014, Stúdió-V Ltd. acquired a majority share in the company.
The main profile of the company is animal husbandry and crop cultivation. In the area of crop production, the company submitted an uniform area-based subsidy application for 1,155 hectares in 2022. The company rents the land needed for farming from private individuals. Typically, the classic field crops are grown: winter wheat, winter barley, rapeseed, sunflower, and fodder corn. In addition to the production of commodity crops, the crop production sector also meets the fodder needs of animal husbandry.
Alkotmány Agro Plc. is also active in the field of livestock breeding, in Bajcsa it maintains a herd of blonde d’aquitaine cattle consisting of more than 330 dams and their offspring. The pastures belonging to the dairy farm, as well as the production of fodder plants from the plant growing sector, satisfy the majority of the farm’s needs. The dairy mainly sells fattening cattle, virgin heifers and breeding bulls. In 2021, the company bought 147 cows that represent the more advantageous French genetics.
The agricultural company makes continuous improvements, one of which was realized in the development of precision farming. In practice, this means that, in order to modernize and increase the efficiency of crop cultivation activities, the company decided to expand and modernize its machine park in 2021 and submitted a tender for the call for code number VP2-4.1.8-21 entitled “Support for precision developments related to the digital transition of Agriculture”. The tender received a favorable assessment, and based on the Supporting Document, the total eligible cost is HUF 246,217,500, with a 50% subsidy intensity.
In addition, in 2020, the company also started planting shelled fruits: in the spirit of diversifying the range of activities and standing on more than one foot, it decided to plant 33 hectares of walnut plantations in 2020. A two-line underground drip irrigation system was installed on the plantation as well. Since these ensure a higher yield and produce fruit sooner, French hybrid varieties were used instead of the traditional Hungarian varieties. The plantation is expected to bear fruit for the first time in 2026. On June 30, 2022, an additional tender was submitted for the planting of an additional 22 hectares of irrigated walnut plantations. Similar to the existing plantation, according to the plans, hybrid varieties will be used here as well, and the plantation will become productive approximately 6-8 years after planting.
